Swimming

Ease Back by Michele Poirer Mozzone
Relax your muscles beneath the surface
of the water, trust it will hold you
are weightless in this body
under the reflection distorts
your concept of time, the sunlight
remains in your retinas long
after you go inside
ease back into the mirroring
perception knowing you can
trust yourself despite
the messages from your self-doubt
the heat slips off your skin
when you release the stress of
the daze you found yourself in
once again when time continued on
leaving you wandering, the water
gently guides you back into
your body, the waves of life
knocked you off track but
you’ll be alright.
